Jakarta – PT Pasifik Satelit Nusantara (PSN), a pioneer of satellite communication services in Indonesia, has taken an important step in strengthening the national satellite technology infrastructure through the signing of a strategic Cooperation Agreement and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The Cooperation Agreement and MoU were carried out with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and PT LEN Industri (Persero) respectively in a series of Indo Defence Expo and Forum 2025 events, Thursday, June 12, 2025, at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta.

The signing of the PSN and BRIN cooperation was carried out by the President Director of PSN, Adi Rahman Adiwoso and the Head of the BRIN Telecommunications Research Center, Prof. Dr. Nasrullah Armi, M.Eng. This collaboration aims to conduct research and development  of phased array antennas  for satellite communication on ground stations. Phased array antennas are a cutting-edge technology that allows control of the direction of the signal beam without physical movement mechanisms, making it faster, more precise, and more resistant to extreme environmental conditions.

“The development  of this phased array antenna  will be one of the important foundations in building a next-generation satellite communication system that is not only more reliable and efficient, but also able to answer the challenges of increasingly complex connectivity needs in the future,” said Adi Rahman, Friday (13/6)

By synergizing the resources, knowledge, and competencies owned by BRIN as a national research institution and PSN as a leading satellite industry player in Indonesia, it is hoped that it can produce phased array antennas  that are compact, highly competitive, and of international standard, so that they can be effectively implemented in satellite communication systems on ground stations.

“By uniting the industrial experience of PSN and research excellence from BRIN, it is hoped that relevant, applicative, and highly competitive technological solutions will be created to support digital transformation and national technology sovereignty,” said Adi Rahman.

The signing of the MoU between PSN and BRIN was also witnessed by the Board of Directors of PSN, including Satrio Adiwicaksono as Director of Technology, Agus Budi Tjahjono as Director of Commerce and Business Development, Anggarini Surjaatmadja as Director of Strategy and Corporation, and Heru Dwikartono as Director of Operations.

In line with this spirit, PSN also establishes a strategic cooperation with PT LEN Industri (Persero). The signing of this MoU was carried out by the President Director of PSN, Adi Rahman Adiwoso and the President Director of PT LEN Industri, Prof. Joga Dharma Setiawan Ph.D. The signing of the cooperation was also witnessed by the directors of each company. The cooperation carried out is a form of strategic synergy that combines all the capabilities, resources, and expertise owned by the two companies to optimize the services and utilization of satellite technology in Indonesia.

“The collaboration with PT LEN Industri is an important step in strengthening the national satellite technology ecosystem. By combining PSN’s strengths in satellite operations and LEN’s experience in the defense and electronics industry sectors, we hope to encourage the creation of technological solutions that are not only relevant to domestic needs, but also globally competitive,” said Adi Rahman.

Adi Rahman also emphasized that these various strategic collaborations show PSN’s commitment to continue to expand cross-sector collaboration, strengthen synergy between industry and research institutions, and actively contribute to creating a national satellite ecosystem that is globally competitive and relies on technological independence.

“Indonesia cannot continue to depend on foreign technology if it wants to be independent in strategic infrastructure such as satellites. The collaboration with BRIN and LEN is a tangible form of our efforts to build satellite technology that is born from the nation’s own capabilities,” concluded Adi Rahman.

For information, PSN comes with the latest innovations at the Indo Defence Expo and Forum 2025 which will be held on June 11-14, 2025 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta. In this international exhibition with the theme “Defense Partnership for Global Peace and Stability”, PSN exhibited advanced satellite technology and special satellite communication solutions to support the defense of the Republic of Indonesia.
